Sweetgrass Basket Workshop – The Charleston Museum

Two more sessions have been scheduled for Friday, October 26 andSaturday, November 10.

Learn to make a sweetgrass basket, an iconic art form of the South Carolina Lowcountry, with the Charleston Museum and traditional basket maker Sarah Edwards-Hammond.  Soak up the history of sweetgrass baskets, see historic sweetgrass and other similar coiled baskets from the Museum’s collection, and then get started sewing your own creation. Workshop for adults includes all supplies and requires no experience. Sign up early; the basket workshops typically sell out two months in advance.
